When is your character’s birthday? Not only will you have a date to do something interesting with, you could also research their astrology or star chart for ideas to use for their personality or background history.

When we think about Holidays, we’re usually only considering the setting for events and atmosphere. Often neglecting how the holidays in general, or even specific ones might affect the moods, feelings, and opinions of the characters involved. In this exercise, detail out how your character feels about holidays. How do they approach them or think about them? SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:

• How do they feel about their BIRTHDAY? Do they tell people about it? Do they like parties? Hate it? Ignore it?
• How do they behave when it’s someone else’s birthday?
• Do they have a religion where they celebrate certain holidays and not others? Christmas vs Hanukkah? Pagan rituals? No holidays at all?
• Do they have a favorite holiday? Why do they like it so much?
• Do they HATE any specific holidays? Did something happen on that day, or do they have other reasons?
• Do they get in to the spirit of holidays?
• Do they like having parties for them?
• Do they decorate?
• Do they spend time with family or friends on holidays?
• List how specific holidays and how that character deals with them!

What does your character wear to bed? Pajamas? Shirts? Nothing at all?

Did you know that the kind of underwear you choose reflects a part of your personality? What kind of underwear do YOU wear? Why do you wear that style or cut? Do you like wearing boxers so you can feel more relaxed? Do you wear lacy black panties to feel sexy? Do you like silly prints? When you see people in movies or pictures in their underwear, do the different kinds of styles give you different impressions of them? Do some styles on women give you the impression they are a sex addict? Is a guy in a speedo giving you a weird perception of them? Knowing what your character wears under all those clothes is a great little additive to deciphering their personality. In this exercise, detail out what kind of underthings your character wears… if they wear any at all. And explain how that style might reflect their personality.

Does your character have siblings? Describe them!

How would your character react to a surprise pregnancy?
